Ernazar Abdikamalov is Associate Director of the Energetic Cosmos Laboratory (ECL) and Director of Graduate Programs of the Physics Department at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan.
His research focuses on computational and theoretical astrophysics of explosive cosmic events, particularly core-collapse supernovae and the compact objects they leave behind such as neutron stars, black holes, and white dwarfs. His work spans fluid and plasma dynamics, gravitational waves, nuclear and neutrino astrophysics, radiation transport, and high-performance computing. Prior to joining Nazarbayev University he was a postdoctoral scholar at Louisiana State University, Caltech, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
